| Ramón Luis, a karate instructor who admits murdering his wife, unborn baby and 4-year-old niece at the family home in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) on April 30th, 2006, told the court on the first day of his trial in Ciudad Real yesterday that he "lost control" after being told by his doctor that he had hepatitis.
Describing himself as a hypochondriac, the defendant went on to explain that, at the time of the murders, he had been suffering from crippling headaches, was convinced that he had a brain tumour and believed that he was about to die.
The prosecution team is demanding a 47-year, 5-month custodial term, and for Ramón Luís to lose guardianship of his one remaining daughter, who is now five.
It is alleged that Ramón Luis used his martial arts expertise to carry out the murders.
The trial is expected to last a maximum of four days. |
