| The National Police took possession yesterday of a car in Salamanca, that may well have been abandoned some time ago by the terrorist organisation, ETA. The car contained an incendiary device very similar to those used by ETA terrorists covering their tracks as they move from place to place.
According to the police, several bottles of a flammable liquid connected to a detonator were found under one of the seats.
The car, a dark coloured Fiat with Portugese number plates, is registered to a Portugese hire company and had been reported stolen several months ago.
Considered abandoned, it was removed from the Avenida Salamanca on January 26th and taken to the municipal car pound where it has been until the owner turned up to claim it yesterday afternoon.
The owner, having completed all the necessary documentation, was just about to start the car up when he noticed a suspicious-looking plastic box under the seat.
The car has now been taken away for a more exhaustive examination after the initial check by bomb-disposal experts. |
