A WOMAN who left her two dogs in a locked car without water or ventilation has been fined 1,200 euros by Valencia city council.

The case has only just been brought, although the offence was committed last January.

Her fines represent 600 euros per dog, since the incident is considered a ‘serious infraction’ under the 1994 pet protection law.

Such infractions can attract fines of up to 6,000 euros where severe neglect is revealed.

Anyone charged with animal neglect or cruelty has 15 days to appeal.

In this case, the dogs, although distressed, did not come to any serious harm.
