| The man arrested in conjunction with the discovery of various female body parts in a series of rubbish containers in Elche is the woman's partner, and has since told police where the remaining parts of her body are.
The victim, 35-year-old María Paz M.G, who was born in Alicante and liveed in Elche, had previously made accusations of domestic violence against other partners, but not against her current boyfriend.
The man detained, a 49-year-old Spaniard, lied to police officers at the outset, but was taken into custody when 'inconsistencies' were found in his testimony.
Shortly after being taken into custody, he admitted to killing and dismembering his girlfriend, and told police where the rest of her body could be found.
The first body part, a leg in a plastic bag, was found by people rummaging about in the garbage bins at the junction of calles Pedro Juan Perpiñán and Antonio Sansano Franco.
Police cordoned off the area and initiated a search of other nearby bins, coming across various bags containing the woman's limbs and headless, naked torso. After establishing the victim's identity, police entered her rented 5th floor flat to find it recently cleaned and with all the windows open, alerting the officers' suspicions. The woman's partner was arrested shortly afterwards in the vicinity of the flat. |
