| The two bosses of the Bolivian man who lost his arm in an industrial bakery in Real de Gandia on May 28th have been released without bail after their first court appearance today.
The two brothers gave evidence to the judge in Gandia for a total of five hours before being released, on the condition that they report to the court on the 1st and 15th of every month.
The prosecution had demanded that they be remanded in custody, but the judge decided that they were not a flight risk as they both own homes and have family links in the area.
The prosecutor then asked for bail to be set at 100,000€ each for the two men, who are accused of illegal contracting, operating an unsafe workplace and actual damage, but this was also rejected.
The Workers' Commission trade union's accusation of failing to provide appropriate aid, by abandoning the victim, 32-year-old Mr Melgar 200m from the hospital and throwing his amputated arm into the rubbish container at the factory was rejected by the judge on the basis of lack of evidence. |
