| Three members of the Guardia Civil were amongst the eight people arrested this morning as a drugs trafficking ring was dismantled by the Policia Nacional and 815 kg of cocaine was seized.
The gang was using the Galician port of Puerto de Marin in Pontevedra to bring cocaine into the country from South America. The most recent consignment was hidden in packs of frozen prawns found on an industrial estate in La Coruña.
The operation, which began over a year ago, involved not only Spanish police, but also the customs authorities both in here and in Chile, and the American Anti-Drugs Agency in Madrid, Chile and Panama.
A lawyer in Vigo, who allegedly gave the traffickers cover for 'safe deliveries', was also amongst those arrested. |
