| A 65-year-old man bled to death yesterday after being bitten in the femoral artery by a guard dog at the rubbish dump where he worked.
Emergency services confirmed that they had received a call at 13.45 and that an ambulance and two paramedic teams went to the scene in the Torrellano area of Elche (Alicante). Paramedics carried out 'medical interventions' but were unable to save the man who was bleeding profusely from a wound penetrating the femoral artery.
The dead man was attacked by a Akita Inu dog, a breed considered to be 'not dangerous in principle'.
Witnesses to the attack were the ones to alert the police and emergency services.
So far police have not been able to establish the circumstances of the attack, but have opened an investigation. |
