| DESTROYING cars with hammers, howling like wolves and Bollywood-style dancing can help combat post-holiday depression in workers, says a company in the Balearic Islands.
Stopstress Mallorca says stress, depression and demotivation affect around 80 of workers on the islands.
This is why they set up a company six years ago offering therapeutic workshops.
Run mainly by psychologists, they have top executives howling in the woods at night, pretending to be wolves, and workers smashing up a car with a hammer to a background music of heavy metal in what is known as ‘destruction therapy’.
Teamwork also comes into play when organising dance routines in the style of Bollywood films, complete with a backdrop of scenes from India.
Other activities offered include ‘noise therapy’, which involves creating violent percussion by hitting drums and oil-barrels; ‘laughter therapy’ workshops, and tasting exotic fruit whilst blindfolded.
The company say they work closely with firms who send their staff on these workshops in order to help everyone settle down to their jobs with more enthusiasm.
They say their work is cut out this year, since the recession has led to fears among workers that they will lose their jobs, and those left on the payroll after mass redundancies find themselves doing twice as much work to make up for being short-staffed.
