| 'Tres días con la familia', directed by Mar Colldel and starring Marian Aquilera (pictured), was today awarded the 'V City of San Sebastian Film Commission Prize' for being "the film which best reflects the social, cultural and scenic values of the locations where it was filmed": Barcelona and Girona.
The prize, awarded by San Sebastian's town council in parallel to the city's International Film Festival being held this week, will be given this evening before the film is shown in the festival's 'Made in Spain' section.
The City of San Sebastian Film Commission Prize is awarded every year by the city as a means of supporting the audiovisual industry in its role in boosting the local economy.
The prize hopes to underline "the importance of cinema in showing the scenic value of locations, with all the accompanying financial and tourist benefits", recognising the "effort made in the film to capture the nature and cultural values of towns and regions, which in turn attracts other film makers" to these areas.
The prize includes 12,000 euros for the director and the chance to have the film shown on the international stage as part of the Film Festival.
In 2008, San Sebastian was used as the location for 190 separate audiovisual productions, generating 4.6 million euros for the city. |
