| WHO better to promote the Balearics as a top tourist destination than Mallorca-born tennis ace, Rafa Nadal – at least, that is the opinion of the regional government, whose ministry of tourism has had the world’s number two player appearing in pictures of everything from golf courses to beaches, and dining like a king in the island’s best restaurants.
Rafa is seen on posters due to be distributed around Europe next year taking part in just about every summer activity the Balearic Islands can offer, reveals the Govern de les Balears.
He is shown sailing on yachts, Nordic walking through the beautiful, unspoilt countryside of Menorca and Mallorca, lounging on the beach, enjoying a round of golf and cycling round the most picturesque parts of these paradisiacal islands.
The top tennis champ, who was born in Manacor (Mallorca) is also promoting local arts and crafts, plus performing arts such as theatre, music and dance, and waxes lyrical about the typical and tempting culinary gems of the Balearics.
