Description
In the heart of the Granada region, situated at the foot of Sierra Nevada, there is a town known as the European capital of Caves, called Guadix, and it is here that we find this large Patio House from the 17th-18th century with Moorish elements.
The house consists of two floors with a central courtyard of Castilian type.
The main facade with a lintel door is located facing the garden of the Convent of the Conception. The wooden door has nails and a man-sized passage. A large viewing balcony stands out at the corner with lowered arches supported by a column. In some of the rooms, the wooden frameworks are preserved.
The residence has two entrances from different streets.
By renovating the house in a bohemian style, six spacious independent apartments were built. Three of them have one bedroom and the rest have two bedrooms. All of them have a bathroom, living room, kitchen, and windows to the outside, one of which has a corner balcony with wonderful views of the city's cathedral.
The courtyard, like the house, has been renovated, but some elements such as the wooden beams have been preserved, with one particularly interesting one in a loop shape over the staircase. The supports and the octagonal columns on which the lintel structure of the galleries rests are also noteworthy. The galleries on the upper floors have been bricked up. The floor has also been replaced with modern tiles.
Regarding its location, the residence is situated just a 3-minute walk from the Cathedral of the Incarnation, right next to the Cathedral is the Plaza de las Palomas where shops and cafes bring life to the city.
Guadix, in addition to being a tourist city, is a city for students coming from various Spanish provinces to study different modules of Vocational Training, both Intermediate and Higher Degree.
