POOR visibility resulting from thick fog forced two flights to Almería to be diverted to Málaga yesterday (Saturday).
One came from Luxembourg and was due to land in Almería at 08.45, and the other, from Brussels, should have arried in the south-eastern provincial capital at 09.10.
Both landed more or less on time, but two provinces away on the Costa del Sol.
Rather than throwing on coach transport, which would have taken several hours, the airlines involved – who have not been named by airport governing body AENA – waited on the ground until the fog cleared before flying passengers to Almería.
This meant a delay in arrival of around two hours, rather than anything up to six if road transport had been used instead.
