Brit with sex assault record charged over Scottish woman's Benidorm apartment fall
A BRITISH man has been charged with murder over the death of a woman who fell from a 10th-floor apartment in Benidorm at the weekend.
The accused, 32, denies pushing the 27-year-old off the terrace, but police consider she may have felt 'intimidated' and jumped to try to escape, intending to land in the swimming pool.
She is said to have been Scottish, identified only as Kirsty and staying with 21 female friends on a hen weekend.
At the time of her fall from the Payma apartment block on the C/ Almería in the Rincón de Loix neighbourhood – known as 'the British district' – she was in an apartment with four other men, and it is thought they tried to hit on her.
The man accused of causing her fall is said to have an existing police record for a sexual assault in the UK.
Kirsty, who had only got married a few months before her fatal plunge, and her friends had booked the entire ninth and 10th floors of the block.
Her family have brought a private prosecution and called for the judge to remand the suspect in custody.
But he has been released with charges and has not even been banned from leaving the country.
