Stones cancel Almería gig

The mayor broke the news at 1am, just after the organisers halted preparations that had begun earlier this morning following the arrival of 20 vans loaded with light, sound, pyrotechnic and audiovisual equipment, from Valladolid, where last night's concert was also cancelled.

Mr Enciso explained that he had received a call from a representative of the Music Frog promotions company to say that Mick Jagger's doctor has advised him to rest his voice for at least a couple more days.

In a statement released by the band's management team yesterday, Rolling Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, apologised for last night's cancelled concert in Valladolid: "I'm sorry for having to cancel because I've always enjoyed performing in Spain, but unfortunately I've got no choice and I apologise to those who have bought tickets for tonight's show."

The statement went on to explain that "on the advice of his doctor, the singer Mick Jagger has been advised to rest his voice after developing laryngitis over the weekend."

Notwithstanding, tomorrow night's concert in El Ejido has not yet been cancelled, although it is not yet known if the singer will be sufficiently recovered. 

The 38,000 fans who bought ticket for last night's gig will be able to claim refunds from where they bought their tickets in one or two day's time.

Given that the concert was cancelled on health grounds, it is believed that both the band and the promotors will be able to claim any losses incurred from their respective insurance companies.

It has just been announced that the Rolling Stones concert at the José Zorilla stadium in Valladolid has been cancelled; it seems that Mick Jagger has lost his voice.

This is a third disappointment for Spanish fans of the veteran hell-raisers after concerts in Madrid and Barcelona were cancelled after Keith Richards fell out of a cocunt tree.

Tonight's sell-out concert was due to start at 8.30pm.
